2008 Spring Meeting Minutes

State conservation officers are developing strategies to address illegal harvest of sturgeon and paddlefish in the international caviar trade which targets Mississippi River fish. Officers also work together in the field to reduce unsafe boating and the illegal interstate harvest of ginseng.

States are formalizing joint law enforcement agreements to leverage resources and to clarify authority on boundary waters including the Mississippi River.

Officers have developed a template of boundary water regulations between states that shows how rules differ on boundary waters to use as an enforcement resource and to share with the public for educational purposes.
